Teaching herd
The UGA Animal and Dairy Science department owns a small herd of dependable and well trained horses that are used to teach beginning riding classes to UGA students across many majors. These horses are also used to teach several labs in horse health and management to students in the Animal and Dairy Science department.

Horses bred at UGA

A select number of horses are bred and raised in the UGA Animal and Dairy Science department teaching program each year. Students are responsible for training these horses as part of advanced riding and equine behavior classes. Horses may move into the teaching herd or be offered for sale as their training progresses.
